Irked over lack of water in the Gorakhpur-bound Raptisagar Express, a group of CISF personnel stopped the train at the railway station in Khammam for more than one and a half hours on Saturday.

Tension gripped the railway station when some the paramilitary personnel travelling by the train entered into an altercation with the railway staff concerned after the train halted at the Khammam railway station on Saturday morning.

A section of the agitated CISF personnel allegedly roughed up an ASI of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) when the latter intervened to defuse tension.

The train proceeded following the intervention of the higher ups, sources said.

The CISF personnel were returning to Gorakhpur after attending the election bandobast duties in Kerala.
